Enable the Work To Do widget

The Work To Do widget provides learners with a summary of assigned learning activities from all their courses that are overdue or have an upcoming due date or end date. You can add the widget to your organization homepage to aggregate data from all courses, and to course homepages to show only due and overdue learning activities from the course.

The Work To Do widget displays the following learning activities:

  • Assignments

  • Checklists

  • Content

  • Courses

  • Discussions

  • Surveys

  • Quizzes

Learning activities only appear in the Work To Do widget when the activity has a defined due date or end date. By default, the widget displays activities due in the upcoming 2 weeks, and overdue work from the previous 12 weeks.

Note: If you want to extend or limit the time ranges for upcoming or overdue work for the widget, contact D2L. D2L Support can edit these properties for your organization.

Enable the Work To Do widget for your organization

  1. From the Admin Tools menu, select Organization Tools. Toggle Work To Do to On.

  2. Set the View Work To Do Widget permission for relevant learner roles at the Organization level and/or at the Course Offering level. Refer to Edit role permissions and properties.

  3. Add the widget to the organization and/or course homepage(s). Note: you must have a widget-based homepage.

  4. At the bottom of the homepage, click the Homepage Actions Menu.

  5. Click Edit this Homepage.

  6. In the Widgets area, click Add Widgets.

  7. Click System Widgets. Select the Work To Do check box.

  8. Click Add.

  9. Drag and drop the widget where you want to organize the homepage.

  10. Click on the widget if you want to edit the widget style properties.

  11. Click Save and Close.
