Create a global Announcements item

You create and manage global Announcements items the same as Announcements items in course offerings, with the following exception: Global Announcements items have the additional setting Show Only In Course Offerings. When you select this setting, a posting only appears on Course Home pages, not in the Announcements widget on My Home.

You must have the Announcements widget on the organization and/or course homepages for users to see Announcements items. Draft Announcements items at the organization level are invisible to instructors and learners.

1. From the Admin Tools menu, click Global Announcements.
2. Enter your Announcements item information.
3. To display the announcement only on Course Home pages, not in the Announcements widget on My Home, select the Show Only In Course Offerings check box.
4. To display author information (name and timestamp) in announcements you create or edit, select the Show Author Information check box.
   Note: This option only appears if you have the Can Manage Author Information and Settings permission.
5. Click Publish.
